Considered to be the best team in school history, the 1984-85 team tied a school record with 24 wins, finishing 24-4 en route to their third consecutive National Bible College Athletic Association (NBCAA) National Championship.

The Crusaders went 9-1 at home and lost their four games by an average of under four points per game. NCC cruised to the NBCAA championship with little difficulty, averaging 99.3 points per game in the tournament with an average margin of victory of over 41 points per game.

The 1984-85 team included Kelly Bokn, Mike Delaplain, John Gilles, John Leach, Mickey McGraw, Jim Newport, Daren Rice, Scott Seidel, Andrew Snyder, Joe Willis and Jon Willis. Head Coach Dave Lipp was assisted by former players Dan Oleson and Tony Carvey.

NCC opened up play in the 1985 NBCAA tournament with a convincing 112-42 win over St. Paul Bible, a 70-point margin of victory which stands as a school record to this day. The following day the Crusaders defeated Grace Bible in the semifinals, 99-72 to advance to the championship game. The title was claimed by way of an 87-59 win against Trinity Bible in the championship game.

Kelly Bokn was named the tournament MVP and was joined on the all-tournament team by Jon and Joe Willis. Bokn and Jon Willis were also named All-Americans for the season and Willis picked up team MVP honors as well. Leach was named the Cecil Warner Most Improved Player while Gilles earned Most Valuable Newcomer honors. Seidel was awarded the Most Inspirational Award by his teammates.
