Be a Beacon

The Bushnell University athletic program, which began in the late 1950's, offers 17 sports as a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Cascade Collegiate Conference. At Bushnell, our focus is on developing the Tri-Athlete with equal emphasis on growth academically, athletically, and in character.

Bushnell has a long history of athletic success. The men's basketball team has won eight national championships at the small college level and other teams have qualified for national championship tournaments. The Women's Cross Country team took home the 2015 NAIA National Championship, and Bushnell teams have won eight Cascade Conference Championships and qualified for 19 NAIA National Tournament appearances.

Bushnell Athletics has gained a reputation for strong academic achievement. Every year, dozens of athletes are recognized as Academic All-Conference and NAIA Scholar-Athletes. The Cascade Conference recognizes the best academic athlete programs each year with the President's Cup and Bushnell is the only school in the CCC to earn that distinction in each year it has been awarded. Bushnell is also a member of the National College Athlete Honor Society, Chi Alpha Sigma. Membership in the honor society is reserved for the best and brightest Beacon student-athletes, who have been at Bushnell for all four years and carry a GPA of 3.8 or higher.

Bushnell has long been known for their strong efforts in the community and as strong representatives of the school both on and off the court. Our desire at Bushnell is to give every student-athlete plenty of opportunities to actively live out their faith. Every team participates in at least one community outreach event each year.

 Does Bushnell offer athletic scholarships?

Yes, each of Bushnell's 17 sports has a limited number of athletic scholarships available. The athletic scholarship program is administered in conjunction with merit and need-based financial aid to put together a complete package. The coaching staff from each sport uses various criteria to determine which student-athletes are deserving of some level of athletic aid.
