Welcome to Bushnell Athletic Training
Bushnell is proud to offer elite athletic training facilities comparable with any institution within the Cascade Collegiate Conference. The Athletic Training Room and the offices of the Athletic Trainers are located in the basement of the Morse Center, adjacent to the Fitness Center and across from the locker rooms.
Â
Bushnell boasts a spacious Athletic Training Room with a large taping area, four treatment tables, therapeutic modalities, and two cold whirlpools. A full-time athletic trainer is present prior to and following practices and home events to care for student athletes. Our certified athletic trainers are responsible for clinical evaluations and diagnosis, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of
sport-related injuries. Our partnering team physician, Dr. Michael Koester is located less than two miles from campus at Slocum Center for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. Slocum is a state-of-the-art healthcare facility that hosts athletes from the entire Pacific Northwest and offers x-rays, MRI, and orthopedic surgeons.
ATHLETIC TRAINING INFORMATIONÂ
INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS:Â All student-athletes must maintain active medical insurance coverage in order to participate in Bushnell University athletics. Student-athletes who cannot provide proof of a valid primary medical insurance plan will not be permitted to participate in practices, conditioning sessions, workouts, competitions, or any other team-related activities until proof of coverage has been submitted. We strongly encourage all student-athletes and their families to carefully review their insurance policy before the school year begins to ensure it provides adequate coverage for athletic-related injuries, including physician visits, diagnostic imaging, emergency care, surgery, rehabilitation, and other sports medicine services that may be needed during participation.
INJURIES:Â In the event of an injury while participating in athletic practice, conditioning and/or competition at Bushnell University, the student-athlete must be referred by one of the Certified Athletic Trainers for any additional medical treatment. All financial responsibility for medical treatment which is not authorized by the athletic training staff is the responsibility of the student-athlete (second opinion, physical therapy, etc.)
EXCESS ATHLETIC ACCIDENT INSURANCE: If a Bushnell University student-athlete is injured during a sports-related activity and needs medical treatment outside of what is provided on campus, Bushnell has an Excess Athletic Accident Insurance policy that may help cover eligible expenses and act as a "secondary insurance". A Sports Injury Claim Form will be submitted on the student-athlete’s behalf to A-G Administrators, the company that manages Bushnell’s athletic accident insurance claims. Please note that this policy is
not a replacement for your primary health insurance. All medical bills must first be submitted to your primary insurance provider. After your primary insurance has processed the claim, Bushnell’s Excess Athletic Accident Insurance may help cover eligible remaining costs. Student-athletes should provide their insurance and billing information to each medical provider before receiving treatment or services. If this information is not provided and you receive a medical bill, please review this
Claims Filing Procedure Form and contact our head athletic trainer, Guillermo Torres-Sanchez, at

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT-ATHLETES: International student-athletes are required to maintain a U.S.-based health insurance plan for the entire academic year while enrolled at Bushnell University and participating in athletics. Insurance plans issued outside of the United States often have limited coverage, reimbursement restrictions, or may not be accepted by local healthcare providers. For this reason, international student-athletesÂ
must purchase and maintain an American health insurance policy that provides coverage within the United States for the full duration of the school year. (Financial responsibility will fall on the student athlete if not adequately covered for the duration of the school year).
- VISIT THIS LINKÂ to view and/or purchase international insurance plans from Gallager/United Health Care.
- For all fall sport athletes, insurance coverage must begin 8/3/26.
- Failure to maintain an active U.S.-based insurance plan may result in the student-athlete being deemed ineligible to participate in athletic activities until appropriate coverage is obtained and verified.
- As part of the required paperwork, you must upload clear images of the front and back of your current insurance card through Healthy Roster.
If you have questions about whether your insurance plan meets these requirements, please contact the Athletic Training Staff before arriving on campus so any issues can be addressed prior to participation.
QUESTIONS?: If you have any questions regarding your physical, insurance requirements, or Healthy Roster account, please contact the Bushnell Athletic Training Staff. Completing your paperwork early will help ensure you are cleared and ready to participate when your season begins
