EUGENE, Ore. – It was another strong year for the Bushnell Cross Country and Track & Field teams with no less than 15 school-records broken, along with multiple All-Conference selections and NAIA national qualifiers.
SCHOOL RECORDS
An impressive number of school records were broken and established by the track & field teams in the spring. The oldest record to fall was the women's outdoor 4x400m standard which had stood for seven years. The record fell not once, but twice, the final of which by
Adrienne Mai,
Olivia Bailon,
Maddii Desemone, and
Janea Robertson took another two seconds off at the CCC Championships. The previous record had been set in 2016.
Â
Also breaking a record from 2016 was
Mayah Pappas, who cleared 5.71 meters in the long jump at the CCC Championships.
Â
You want to peak at the right time, and so many Beacons did that with five women's records and one men's mark all coming down at the Conference Championships.
Â
Two of those came off the feet of Robertson, who finished her debut campaign with a total of four school records (outdoor 200m, indoor 400m, outdoor 400m, 4x400m relay).
Â
One familiar face to the record book,
Jaron Carter, added another claim this season. Already claiming the title of Fastest Beacon Ever with his 100m record, the senior added an impressive school-record in the 400m as well, taking fourth-place at the CCC Championship in the process.
Â
With the continued expansion of the track & field program, three new school records were also established. Both the men's and women's indoor 3000m marks were set by freshmen with
Harmony Goodman and
Alec Carne adding their names to the history book. The indoor high jump record was also established with another freshman,
Jermaine Richards, etching his name in the tablet.
Â
Perhaps the most impressive school records came for freshman
Nathan Fields, who added three feet to both the indoor and outdoor triple jump records.

Â
ALL-CCC / NAIA QUALIFIERS
The fall Cross Country season featured another incredible performance for
Rebecca Kuskie. In her final CCC cross country championship, the senior claimed 15th-place to earn All-Cascade Conference honors and qualify for the NAIA National Championship for the second time.
Â
Two men earned All-Conference honors on the track this spring, including
Nathan Fields who won the CCC Triple Jump Championship. The freshman not only won the event by six and a half inches, his jump of 14.58 meters (47'10") landed an NAIA automatic "A" qualification.
Â
The second all-CCC finish was a bit of a surprise as sophomore
Hunter Reininger blasted a career-best leap in the long jump to take third-place.
Â
While she didn't land a top-three finish for all-conference,
Mayah Pappas was just as impressive in the women's long jump, where she broke the school-record and also hit an NAIA national "B" standard.
Â
Both Fields and Pappas went on to represent the Beacons at the NAIA National Championships in May.
