EUGENE, Ore. – A pair of Beacons were honored in 2022-2023 for some incredible individual efforts, as they were named NAIA National Players of the Week.
On January 3, junior
Spencer Hoffman was named the NAIA Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
Hoffman averaged over 20 points and 13 rebounds per game, shooting 68.2% from the field as Bushnell won both of their road games to jump into a four-way tie for sixth place in the CCC after an 0-3 start. He scored 20 points on 8-for-12 shooting to lift Bushnell 106-78 over The Evergreen State College on night and followed with 21 points on 7-for-10 shooting in a 95-89 win over Northwest University on Saturday.
At that point, Hoffman had scored 20 or more points in eight straight games, ranked second in the CCC in field goal percentage and third for both scoring and rebounding. He went on to earn the CCC Newcomer of the Year award.
On March 22, junior
Jackson Muramoto was named the NAIA Men's Golfer of the Week, becoming the first Bushnell golfer to ever receive the honor.
Muramoto stormed back to tie for the victory at the Willamette Valley Cup. After round one, he was sitting in 11th place and four strokes out of first place. He finished with a 66 in round two and won a "scorecard playoff" to claim the tournament medal. His 66 was a career-best and the third-best round in Bushnell history.
The junior's score of 73-66—139 (-5) tied for second-best two-round tournament in school history.
Bushnell (297-297—594) placed third as a team at the tournament, recording the best two-round tournament score in Bushnell history.
