The Bushnell women's soccer program had a big fall as they tied the school record for wins and earned their best-ever finish in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
The Beacons went 7-6-4 on the season, tying the single-season win record, a feat which was last achieved in 2016. It was the first winning season in the 20-year history of the program and marked just the second season above .500 in Cascade Conference action. In the CCC, Bushnell was 6-4-2 and earned their best-ever finish, taking fifth-place.Â
Bushnell opened the season strong on August 28 as they defeated
Willamette University at home, 4-1. The new-look Beacons were out to prove that their offense was catching up to their stingy defense of the past few seasons. All four goals were first-time strikes for their scorers, including three from players making their debut for the Beacons in
Mia Morales,
Addy Morgan, and
Ohu Miles. The Bearcats came into the contest 9-0 all-time against Bushnell, having allowed just two goals. Bushnell scored two in the first 23 minutes before rolling to the win.Â
The Beacons would go on to finish the non-conference slate at 1-1-2, highlighted by a
draw with George Fox University for their first positive result against the Bruins in 14 years. GFU scored just 50 seconds into the contest, but Bushnell rallied to find the equalizer from
Leslie Monjaras in the 65th minute to earn the tie.Â
Bushnell opened up CCC action on the road in Montana on September 18, making the most of the long one-game trip with a
2-0 victory over the University of Providence in Great Falls. It was the first shutout of the season for the Beacons and included a penalty-kick save from keeper
Ana Augusto.Â
The following weekend proved more difficult as the Beacons suffered their only back-to-back losses of the regular season on the road with 3-0 losses to Eastern Oregon University and the NAIA's No-5 ranked and eventual CCC champion College of Idaho. Bushnell, however, responded well as they came back to the friendly confines of Civic Park. The Beacons rattled off five straight wins at home, out-scoring their opponents 13-2 in that stretch as they moved to 6-2 in conference.Â
Freshman
Elidia Cervantes Carlos emerged as a dominant scoring threat during the winning streak, picking up a pair of game-winning goals. In a
4-0 win against Evergreen on October 11, she scored three goals for Bushnell's first hat-trick since 2014.Â
The highlight win during that stretch was a gritty
1-0 victory over Northwest University on October 12. It was Bushnell's first victory over the Eagles since their inaugural season in 2006, ending a 19-match losing streak. Augusto made three saves in the shutout and would be honored later that week with her second
CCC Defensive Player of the Week award.Â
The season closed with two losses and two ties, but both were meaningful 0-0 draws as Augusto collected big clean sheets against Oregon Tech and Carroll College.Â
Bushnell closed out the regular season with a 4-3 loss to Rocky Mountain College, but still earned their highest seed ever for the CCC tournament. Making their second trip in three years and just third all-time, the Beacons qualified as the No. 5 seed. They would end with a tough 2-0 loss to Rocky Mountain in the quarterfinals, but that did not diminish what would go down as the most successful season in program history.Â
The Beacons would be well-rewarded after the season concluded as they claimed four spots on the
All-Conference team. Both Cervantes Carlos and Augusto were named to the Second-Team, as was senior
Lexis Canyete-Asato, who was honored by the CCC for the third straight year. She was the heart and soul of the Beacons' defensive unit that allowed just 18 goals in 16 games with six shutouts.Â
Fellow defender and senior
Lorelai Murphy was the fourth selection, earning Honorable Mention in her final campaign.Â
2025 proved to be the swan song for Bushnell head coach Halle Meadows, who transformed the entire culture of Beacon women's soccer and in just three seasons finished two victories shy of the program coaching wins record. Meadows
announced after the season that she was hired as the new head coach at NCAA Division II Chico State, paving the way for former DI soccer star
Toni Malone to take over the helm as the eighth head coach in program history.Â
