EUGENE, Ore. – Bushnell Fortnite shined in their first-ever season of Fortnite Trios competition, taking ninth place in the ECAC Zero Build Trios Championship on Thursday, December 5.

Entering the championship tournament as the 27-seed, the Beacons exceeded expectations scoring 210 points over the five-match championship to claim ninth place out of 114 schools.

Opening with a 15th place result in the first match, the Beacons broke loose with back-to-back Top-10 placements. The third match was their best as they took fifth place with eight eliminations, resulting in 76 of their points. Bushnell closed with 20th and 27th finishes in matches four and five, but recorded ten eliminations to keep themselves among the Top-10 on the leaderboard.

This is the fifth consecutive year that a Bushnell Fortnite team has earned a top 10 placement in a league championship tournament.

Lauren Cazares and
Nick McGowen competed in four zero build trios tournaments during the regular season, climbing the leaderboard each week, culminating in a 27th-place finish in Week Four, to earn their spot in the postseason.

Points were earned based on placement and eliminations. At the end of each five-game tournament, the top team from each of the four lobbies advanced to the playoffs. The 17 remaining teams, including Bushnell, qualified based on points earned throughout the four tournaments.
