Andrew Webb capped off his Bushnell career by winning the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championship in April, to earn himself a spot in the NAIA Men's Golf Championship. Webb became the third Beacon in school history to qualify as an individual for the national tournament, joining two-time CCC champion Josh Goins (2016, 2017) and Tyler Falk (2014).
Webb was the individual leader at the conference tournament after posting a 69 in the opening round. He fell into a tie for fifth after adding 10 strokes (79) in round two to finish 4-over on the day. The struggle continued early in the third round as Webb bogeyed three consecutive holes to sit at 2-over through six. He rallied to claim birdies on five of his next seven holes, ending the day at 2-under.
He finished with a score of 69-79-70—218 (+2) to put him in a tie for first place with the University of British Columbia's Russell Howlett, sending the duo to a hole-by-hole sudden death playoff. Both Webb and Howlett recorded par on the first two holes. Webb secured the title after repeating the par effort on the third hole, while Howlett bogeyed.
Webb said, "What a blessing, to get to feel these things is overwhelming. The amount of support I had all week and these last ten years of playing golf was enough to bring me to tears when my last putt fell. I am humbled that God chose to bless me on this stage in this way. There are too many thanks to give, but the big one is to my father in heaven. He got it done this week, all I did was show up to the course and he took care of everything else."
The win marked the first career medal for Webb, and it couldn't have come at a better time as he earned a spot in final tournament of the season to close out his senior year, the NAIA Championship. The NAIA Championship took place at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois, the home of the PGA TOUR's annual John Deere Classic.
Webb shot a 75-79—154 (+12) through two rounds of play at TPC Deere Run to fall short of the 40-player cut.
Not only did the senior see success on the course, but he was also a high achiever in the classroom. Webb was named the Male Scholar Athlete of the Year at the annual Iggy Awards and later earned Male Athlete of the Year honors for his performance at the CCC Championship.
Webb, now a three-time Academic All-CCC honoree, was also recognized as a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection in the spring.
