EUGENE, Ore.  – All-American Macie Gale took the individual medalist honors on Saturday as the Bushnell Alumni women's team claimed a 25-31 victory over Bushnell at the 2021 Beacon Cross Country Alumni Challenge.

Returning after a one-year hiatus, the Challenge was previously won by the Beacons in 2019. Head Coach Tom Boldon said, "It was really good to finally compete. We have been training together for four weeks so to get out here and race and see where we are at is a great opportunity. I was really pleased with our effort.

Gale broke the 3000m Dorris Ranch course record by seven seconds as she ran a 10:52, topping the mark set by All-American Brittany Petersen (pictured, left) in 2019. Petersen took third on Saturday (11:31), edged out by Bushnell junior Rebecca Kuskie (pictured, right), who ran an 11:27.

After the race Kuskie said, "It was super exciting to race again. I love the team this year and the energy is great. It was great to get out and compete with them again. I was told that we would have some good competition today, and Brittany really helped me push through the middle half of the race."

The final All-American on the alumni team and current assistant coach Allison Booth took fourth place (12:23), followed closely by freshman Hannah Scott making her Beacon debut in fifth (12:26).

"Hannah pushed up quite a way and had a 3k PR," said Boldon. "She was faster today than she had been on the track which is something to be said."

2020 NAIA qualifier Tea Chatelain took sixth place for the alumni, followed by alumni coach Heike McNeil in 11th, Jasmine Lay in 12th and Delaney McMahon in 13th.

The current Beacon team also featured Aneykah McCall, who took seventh, Kennedy Larson in 8th, Kaitlin Cook in 9th, Isabell Webber in 10th, Skye Urban in 12th and Liz Jarvis in 15th.

Boldon said, "We have a lot of girls who are still getting into race shape and this is a great place to start. I am really pleased with what they did."

The Beacons will compete in their first official race of the 2021 season on Friday, September 3 when they travel to the Linfield Harrier Classic in McMinnville.
