MONMOUTH, Ore. – A pair of relay records and the javelin mark were all reset on Friday as the Beacons competed in the John Knight Twilight at Western Oregon University.
A new benchmark was set in the 4x100m relay (44.65) by
Michael Andrews,
Antonio Campos-Perez,
Josh Chesnut (pictured right), and
Micah Jury (pictured left).
Campos and Jury were joined by
Javonte Byrd and
Alec Duncan as they hit a 3:25.90 in the 4x400m to break a record which had stood since 2013.
Christian Hackey improved upon his own Javelin record and hit the NAIA "B" Standard in the process, throwing a mark of 56.18m. He was just 0.82 meters away from an "A" standard and automatic qualification.
The Beacons also added one more name to the Cascade Conference championship roster on Friday as Byrd made his season debut in the long jump, leaping 6.53m.
