EUGENE, Ore. – A small contingent of NCU track & field athletes competed this weekend at both the Oregon Relays and the Pacific Open.

Senior
Javonte Byrd took ninth place in the long jump at the Oregon Relays (6.35m) and ran the opening leg of the 4x400m relay which took eighth place. Joining Byrd were Antonio Campos,
Micah Jury, and
Alec Duncan.

Up north at the Pacific Open the javelin squad competed.
Christian Hackney led the way with a fourth-place finish, throwing a 54.99m.
Garth Gant (pictured) followed closely in fifth with a heave of 54.67m, setting a new personal best and missing the NAIA "B" standard by just 0.33 meters. Also throwing was senior
Patrick Fritter, hitting a 44.46.

The full NCU track & field team will be in action next weekend, traveling to compete in the Southern Oregon University Invitational on April 22 and 23.Â
