McMINNVILLE, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University volleyball team dropped a tough four-set match to Linfield University on Wednesday night in non-conference action, 25-23, 23-25, 25-13, 26-24.
“We just played kind of flat the entire match,” said head coach Mike Gaffaney, “and we certainly didn't play up to our potential. If we played above average tonight we could have beat this team, but some critical unforced errors at critical times really cost us.”
The Beacons (8-7) were led by sophomore
Maren Mansfield who posted eleven kills and eight digs.
Cori Wallace (pictured) posted her eighth double-double of the season (and fourth straight) with 26 assists and 16 digs. Senior
Danielle Nance continued her resurgent season in the middle as she put down nine kills, adding two blocks. Dana Clark gathered 23 digs, just one shy of her season-high.
The Wildcats (6-7) were led by Kailana Ritte-Camara who had 13 kills. Leimomi Hookano posted ten kills and hit .280. Victoria Thompson had six kills but led the team with a .455 attack percentage. Audrey Frazier added 34 assists and Samantha Lau served a match-high four aces while collecting 38 digs for an astonishing 9.5 digs-per-set average.
NCU will return to Cascade Collegiate Conference action this Friday when they play host to No. 18 Southern Oregon University at 7:00 pm.
