CALDWELL, Idaho – The Bushnell volleyball team relied on their proprietary blend of serving, blocking, and efficient offense on Saturday evening as they defeated Warner Pacific University in a sweep, 25-16, 25-10, 25-21.
The Beacons (13-7, 8-5 CCC) struggled out of the gate, but put together a strong fight in the second set, leading by as much as 18-13 and leading 21-18 before the Yotes (19-1, 12-1) stormed back with six kills over the final nine points. The rally seemed to take the air out of the tires of the visitors in the third set.
"We played some really good volleyball for moments tonight," said head coach
Jason Corwin, "but we just weren't consistent enough to beat a top-ten team on the road. We will learn and get ourselves ready for another huge test tomorrow."
The match may well have gotten even more out of hand had it not been for the stellar play of Soliel Sands. The senior Middle Blocker had nine kills on ten swings without an error (.900 attacking) and added two blocks.
Teagan Dixon added seven kills and
Chloe Farr posted 12 digs.
UP NEXT: The Beacons head to La Grande on Saturday to take on NAIA No. 1-ranked Eastern Oregon (23-1, 12-1) at 4:00 pm. The Mounties suffered their first loss of the season on Friday, falling in four sets to No. 5 Corban.
