EUGENE, Ore. – The Bushnell volleyball team relied on their proprietary blend of serving, blocking, and efficient offense on Saturday evening as they defeated Warner Pacific University in a sweep, 25-16, 25-10, 25-21.
The Beacons (13-6, 8-4 CCC) dominated in the serve game, out-acing the Knights 12-1, fueled by a career-high seven service aces from senior
Emma Fa'alogo. Bushnell also out-blocked WPU 5-1 with Soliel Sands putting a hand on all five blocks in the three sets. The win was a nice palette cleanser for Bushnell after a tough defeat on Wednesday against No. 5 Corban.
"We had such a great reset as a team," said Fa'alogo. "Practice has been intense and intentional and it paid off on the court today. I am super proud of this team and we are so excited for this upcoming week."
Bushnell got some extended relief work from
Addie Evans and
Peyton Arland on Saturday with the duo combining to hit .770 without an attack error. Arland had six kills on seven swings and added a block assist in the third set. "Our team came out disciplined and focused on our standard of play," she said.
Evans, who earned four kills, said, "I am proud of everyone on our team. We worked hard tonight and took care of business. I am excited to carry this win into next weekend."
Bushnell finished the night hitting .301 as a team and was led by
Amyah Semau with eight kills and six digs. Fa'alogo finished with 18 assists and six digs to go with her seven aces while
Carly Hanna added three aces of her own.
Warner Pacific (0-13, 0-12) was led by Daisci Burrows, collecting seven kills. Amor Rapoza earned 15 assists while Madison Flores led the team with six digs.
UP NEXT: In what is shaping up to be the most difficult weekend road trip in the country, Bushnell heads east next weekend, taking on No. 8 College of Idaho (18-1, 11-1) on Friday and No. 1 Eastern Oregon (23-0, 12-0) on Saturday.
