EUGENE, Ore. –  For the fourth time in her career, senior Soliel Sands has been recognized as the Cascade Collegiate Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week as announced on Monday.

Sands had a strong weekend patrolling the net for the Beacons, averaging 1.75 blocks per set as the Beacons split a road double-header.

Notably, in Bushnell's five-set reverse sweep victory over Walla Walla University on Saturday night, Sands earned a rare double-double with 12 kills and a Bushnell single-match record tying 13 blocks. It was Bushnell's first double-digit blocking performance since October of last year when Sands had ten against College of Idaho.

This is the second CCC Defensive Player of the Week for Sands this season, and third for the Beacons. She was also twice awarded as a junior.

UP NEXT: The Beacons will have a big match on Wednesday night as they travel to Salem to take on No. 6-ranked Corban University at 6:00 pm. Bushnell defeated the Warriors in Eugene in their last meeting.
