LAUREL, Mont. – Four teams are separated by six strokes in a battle for second-place after the first day of the Beartooth Invitational, hosted by Rocky Mountain College at Laurel Golf Club.
 
The Beacons ended the day tied with College of Idaho for fourth place with a combined two-round score of 598. After a 306 in the morning round, which began at 7:30 am Mountain time, Bushnell bounced back strong in the afternoon, carding a 292 in the second round, fueled by a combined 18 birdies for the four scoring golfers.
 
Leading the way is Lincoln Wiedenmann who shot a 75-71—146 to hold a piece of seventh place. His 1-under par second round was a season-best.
 
Luke Fenner follows in tenth place, shooting a 77-70—147. Fenner had six birdies in the second round.
 
Jacob Holmes also had six birdies in the afternoon, rattling off four straight in the sixth-through-ninth holes. He ended the day with a 78-75—153 to tie for 20th, along with teammate Shawn Petty (76-77—153).
 
Tied for 25th-place are Peyton Wiedenmann and Trison Hedges who shot matching 78-76—154 scores.
 
Both Bushnell players who are competing as individuals also had a strong day in Montana. Ryland Carroll (74-74—148) is currently tied for 11th place while Connor Cameron (75-74—149) is tied for 14th.
 
No. 18 Rocky Mountain claimed a commanding lead at their own tournament, shooting a 286-275--561 to sit at 15-under par. The are 31-strokes ahead of the RMC "B" team in second place. The Rocky team is six strokes ahead of Bushnell while third-place Montana Tech (301-293—594) is four ahead of the Beacons with 18 holes to play.
 
Bushnell's first-ever trip to Montana will conclude on Tuesday with the third round.
