EUGENE, Ore. – The Bushnell University campus came to life this week with the return of the men's and women's soccer and volleyball teams as fall training camp got underway.    
 
After a strong 2025 season for all three teams, the new year brings with it plenty of expectations as all three programs will look to return to the Cascade Conference post season. Last year all three programs qualified for their respective CCC tournaments in the same year for the first time in program history.
 
With a department on the rise, all three teams are getting in gear for regular-season counting games in just a matter of weeks.
 
The men's soccer team, which advanced to the CCC Semifinals a year ago, boasts a squad of 48 players including 25 returners and 23 newcomers.
 
Head Coach Joao Ehlers said, "I am excited about the opportunity that we will have this month to combine the quality of the newcomers and the experience of our returners. The guys reported in good shape and we have a great foundation to work with.
 
"I am excited to share my senior year with this new group of players and build a great team together," said four-year defender Jesus Aguilar. "To me, fall camp is one of the best parts of college soccer. This is a very diverse and talented group. Everyone is willing to support each other and contribute to the program."
 
For the women's soccer team, 13 returners and 11 newcomers will come together under first-year head coach Toni Malone as they look to improve upon their fifth-place finish in the Cascade Conference last season. Coach Malone said, "The first couple days of camp have been exciting. It has been great seeing our newcomers in Bushnell gear and welcoming our returners back to campus. The team has embraced the fitness tests and the start of preseason with a positive attitude and willingness to compete and they are really setting the tone for the season."
 
Senior Adrie Lader said, "I am excited to just be back out there competing with everyone. Going into my senior season makes it feel a little more special and I am really excited to see all the work we have put in come together. I have been really impressed with the new group so far. Everyone seems competitive and ready to work, but there is also a good energy within the team. We have a lot of potential and I can't wait to see how we continue to grow together."
 
Volleyball welcomes eight new players to the team and will have a roster of 20 ready to make a run at another trip to the NAIA National Championship tournament in 2026. Head Coach Jason Corwin said, "We have a really deep squad this year and so far, we look ready to compete."
 
Sophomore Teagan Dixon said, "I am excited to be back on campus and playing on the court with this amazing group of girls. We are already meshing well and enjoying the environment that we are creating. It is very exciting to see everyone working hard."
 
"It is always excited to see all the hard work from the off season come together as we compete every day and prepare for what is going to be a great season," said senior Emma Fa'alogo. "The new group came in with great attitudes and a willingness to learn. They are competitive and hard-working and already fit in really well with the returners. I am excited to see how much we can grow together throughout the season."
