Beacons Win Again, Top Eagles 4-1

KIRKLAND, Wash. – The Bushnell men's soccer team continued a 14-match undefeated streak on Friday, defeating Northwest University 4-1 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.

The Beacons (8-0-4, 4-0-2 CCC) earn their first win over NU (3-6-1, 1-5) since 2018 after playing to 1-1 draws in each of the last two seasons. A generous lead allowed the Beacons to go deep into the bench during the contest as all 22 healthy players on the travel squad were able to see minutes.

"We had a very good performance today," said Head Coach Joao Ehlers. "Everyone played and contributed greatly."

Bushnell set the tone early, scoring in the fourth minute. Joan Remo Morales sent a cross to James Duggan, who chipped the ball across into the right corner, off the leg of an outstretched defender at the goal line.

Today was a unique challenge," said Duggan. "The conditions forced us to adapt. It was scrappy and we showed alot of grit. We have alot of positive momentum in our season and we will be looking to use that momentum going forward."

Remo Morales got into the action in the 17th minute, scoring his team-leading fifth goal of the year with what would become the game-winning goal, heading in a ball from three-yards out off a combo-pass as Brady Housley fed Konstantinos Gavriel for a one-timer cross into the box.

The Beacons would have to settle for a 2-1 lead going into the half as they gave up their first goal in 332 minutes when NU's Matthew Ludlow scored from the side off a pass from Samuel Brendle.

Bushnell more than made up for the minor hiccup in the second half, scoring two more as they would end up doubling their highest goal total ever against the Eagles.

In the 68th minute, Severin Larsen created a turnover just outside the top of the box and sent a pass to Teva Mataoa, who struck gold for the second time this season.

Mataoa said, "Today was a great performance and a well-deserved win in tough conditions away from home. We have put in alot of work to get where we are now and we hope to keep building on it."

Just 90 seconds later, the Beacons added another when a corner kick from Housley bounced into the box, past a defender and off the chest of Jay Jay Van Der Velde for his second goal of the season.

For Housley it was his CCC-leading seventh assist of the year and puts him one back of the Beacon single-season record held by both Omar Barajas (2023) and Caleb Premo (2025).

UP NEXT: The Beacons, who are currently in third-place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, will look to win a fourth straight CCC contest on Saturday in Olympia against Evergreen (4-3-3, 2-3-1) at 3:00 pm.
