LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Bushnell women's track & field team started off the first day of the Cascade Collegiate Conference championship on Friday with a pair of school-records and a strong showing in the Long Jump, featuring a fourth-place finish from
Cyan Kelso-Reynolds.

The sophomore earned five points for the Beacons, landing the second-best jump of her career at 5.55m (18-02.50) to take her highest-ever finish at the conference championship. The long jump also featured a pair of strong PR's as
Ellie Ekwere took 11th (5.25m) and
Sienna Lillebo claimed 13th (5.22m).

Another four points came in from the 4x100m relay team of
Aniya Green, Makayla Parrish, Lillebo and CKR, who took fifth-place at 49.48.

Leah Schiewe was responsible for two points for the Beacons, claiming a seventh-place finish in the Shot Put as she landed 12.00m (39-04.50). It wasn't the only highlight of the day for the senior, who also broke her own school record in the hammer, hitting a 41.44m toss to break the 40-meter mark for the first time. She would finish 13th in the event.

The final point for the Beacons came on another school record, this time in the 100-meter hurdles where freshman
Aliyah Malone tied a seven-year old school record with an eighth-place finish at 15.02. She equaled the mark set by Christy Seaton at the CCC championship in 2019.

The Beacons finished the day with 12 points and currently sit in ninth-place, three points behind Corban University.
