COMPLETE RESULTS
MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Bushnell Cross Country teams were back in action on Saturday and ten of the 11 competitors broke or established new personal records in what was a very successful weekend.
Head Coach
Kyle Will said, "This was a tough meet with some great competition and we were the only Cascade Conference school competing. We had a really good day and those who were able to compete this weekend competed really well. The athletes that are working really hard and doing everything right are really seeing the results."
In their first 6000m race of the season, the women were led once again by sophomore
Cadence Smith who shaved off nearly two full minutes off of her personal best. She took 51st place with a time of 22:44.10, which ranks her fifth in the Cascade Conference this season.
"Today was a fun race with great competition," said Smith. "I am so proud of each of my teammates that ran today and for how hard they have been working at practice. I am excited for the future of our team."
Sidney Lane (113th, 25:57.70) and
Jordan Lauinger (114th, 26:04.80) paced and pushed each other throughout the race and their efforts paid off as they both collected new 6K PRs.
A pair of freshman also ran their debut 6000-meter races as
Hailey Jackson (24:21.10) and
Annika Kimball (26:52.30) established their own personal bests.
The Beacons finished the race with 361 points, taking 12th-place in a field that was loaded with NCAA Division I and Division II talent.
For the men's team it would be an 11th-place finish, scoring 376 points, but the individual performances of all five competing Beacons were impressive.
Junior
Logan Gant led the way in Bushnell's first 8000-meter race of the season, taking a minute off of his sophomore-season personal record as he ran a 27:29.70 to take 109th place.
Other personal records followed for
CJ Long (29:13.00),
Miguel Ramirez (29:38.00), and
Andrew Bennett (34:38.30) while
Ben Patterson competed in his first collegiate 8K (30:14.60).
Also competing for the Beacons was senior
Sayer Pescosolido, finishing in 140th with a time of 29:27.50.
Pescosolido said, "As we raced our first 8K of the year, there was great effort. It is not easy coming off two hard weeks of training to a longer race, but we are seeing the great potential of our team."
Up Next: The Beacons have their first back-to-back weekends as they will be in Salem next Saturday for the Willamette University Invitational.
