SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The Bushnell men's golf team knocked off Corban University on Friday in the season opener for both schools, a two-round dual taking place at Pine Ridge Golf Course.
 
In the play-six/score-five format, Bushnell defeated the Warriors, 745-791. The Beacons claimed four of the top-five individual finishes in the event with Jacob Holmes (75-70) and Matthew Forsyth (pictured) (70-75) tying for medalist honors with matching scores of 145.
 
Trison Hedges followed, tying for third place (77-73—150) while Peyton Wiedenmann finished in fifth place (74-77—151). The final scoring golfer for the Beacons was Isaac Wells with a two-round total of 155. Also golfing for the Beacons were Connor Cameron (156), CJ Poulsen (158), Cody Adams (161), Shawn Petty (162), Trenton Parks (171) and Tyler Mikel (176).
 
Corban was led by Braden Sparkman, scoring a third-place tie with a 76-74—150. David Harvey followed with a 156 and Andy Austen scored a 157.
 
The Beacons will be back in action on September 8 when they kick off the Cascade Collegiate Conference schedule at the Walla Walla Invitational.
