FINAL RESULTS

LAUREL, Mont. – The Bushnell men's golf team took third-place at the Beartooth Invitational, hosted by Rocky Mountain College at Laurel Golf Club.
 
The Beacons closed out the event shooting a 306-292-294—892 for one of the ten best three-round tournaments in school history. They would end up finishing one stroke behind Montana Tech in second place, while No. 17-ranked Rocky Mountain won the event by 44 strokes, finishing 17-under par. "I am very proud of our guys today," said Head Coach Nathan Wiedenmann. "Our first 18 holes put us in a difficult position. We really need to get off to a better start. We followed that up wih a strong second 18, 14 shots better.  Heading into today, in 6th place, we knew what we had to do. We moved up the board, but just came up short. It is a learning opportunity, and I am confident all our guys will grow."
 
Leading the way for the Beacons was freshman Lincoln Wiedenmann who earned all-tournament honors as he shot 75-71-72--218 to take fifth place. His 1-under par second round was a season-best and he closed his third round with back-to-back birdies on 17 and 18 to jump into the top five.
 
Coach Wiedenmann said, "Lincoln had a strong performance to lead the team on the road as a freshman. I thought he had a really strong mental attitude and remained intentional under quite a bit of pressure. This is a direct reflection of his work ethic and commitment to excellence."
 
Connor Cameron had another impressive tournament playing as an individual, earning a top-ten finish in eighth place as he shot a 75-74-72—221. Bushnell's other individual, Ryland Carroll, wasn't far behind in 12th-place, shooting a 74-74-76—224. "Connor had a tremendous tournament," said Coach Wiedenmann. "I talked with Connor about utilizing this opportunity as an individual to go out and perform at a high level. He clearly was able to execute and deserves all the credit for buying in to what our coaching staff is giving him, maintaining focus regardless of where he played. Ryland also played some high level golf.  So much to learn from his first major tournament, but he stayed calm and engaged."
 
Luke Fenner (77-70-78—225) followed in 14th, while Jacob Holmes (78-75-73—226) was right behind in 17th. Holmes, who recorded six birdies in Monday's second round, earned three more on Tuesday and posted an Eagle on the 500-yard par-five 12th hole.  
 
Also golfing for the Beacons were Trison Hedges (78-76-73—227) in 19th, Shawn Petty (76-77-76—229) in 22nd, and Peyton Wiedenmann (78-76-81—235) in 30th.

Coach Wiedenman added, "This was a tremendous overall experience, and the entire men's and women's program loved Montana. Beautiful golf course, hospitality, and fellowship. We are so grateful for the university's support and blessing us with the opportunity to attend. We will get a good rest day on Wednesday and get back to work. Its a great day to be a Beacon!"

Up Next: Bushnell will be back in action in two weeks, traveling to Idaho to play their second Cascade Conference tournament of the season, hosted by Lewis-Clark State at Lewiston Golf and Country Club.
