Bushnell Esports: Weekly Recap

5EUGENE, Ore.  –  Bushnell Esports continued the spring season in the ECAC, earning wins in Rocket League, FC 25 and NBA 2K and posted another strong week in Teamfight Tactics.
 
SUPER SMASH BROS. ULTIMATE (SSBU)
Match 5: MSU – Mankato 2, Bushnell 0 (12-10, 12-8)
 
The format of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (SSBU) is 4v4 Crew Battles. Teams are assigned opponents of similar records each week and play a best-of-three series. 
 
Bushnell concluded the spring season with a 1-4 record, falling to Minnesota State University – Mankato in a close matchup.
 
TEAMFIGHT TACTICS (TFT)
Week 6: Claunch (2nd), Farris (35th)
 
Zack Claunch was placed into the top division (Division A) of competition, while Nathan Farris will compete in Division B. Every Monday, Claunch and Farris will play two matches, competing in an eight-way free-for-all format. The top 16 teams from each division will advance to the playoffs.
 
Claunch remained in second place on the Division A leaderboard. He has had a top four finish in 10 of 12 games. Farris moved to 35th on the Division B leaderboard, but is still mathematically alive for a playoff spot.
 
FC 25
Match 6: Bushnell 2, UHSP 1 (7-6, 1-7, 6-3)
 
Andrew Bennett earned his fourth win of the season, defeating the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy on Monday. Bennett has one more game in the regular season and can earn an automatic qualifier into the playoffs with a win. He has already earned a spot in the last chance qualifier, giving him a chance at a playoff spot no matter the outcome in his final match.
 
There are 131 teams competing in the spring. Bennett will be assigned an opponent of similar record each week.
 
ROCKET LEAGUE
Match 5: Bushnell 4, SUNY Polytechnic (4-1, 4-1, 4-3, 4-3)
 
Isaac Wagner, Brec Feehan and Kyle Foss are competing in Division A, the second highest level of competition in the ECAC. They will play a six-game regular season, playing a best-of-seven series each week. The top 4 teams from each group will advance to the playoffs.
 
The Beacons remain undefeated with their fifth consecutive victory, sweeping SUNY Polytechnic on Wednesday. They currently rank first in their conference and third overall in Division A. Up next, the final match of the regular season against Saint Francis University on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
 
NBA 2K
Match 6: Bushnell 1, Morris Brown 0
 
Mason Monrroy earned a spot in the last chance qualifier with a forfeit victory last week. He can clinch a playoff spot with a win in the final week of the regular season.  
 
Monrroy will be assigned an opponent of a similar record each week, playing a best-of-three series every Tuesday. There are 69 colleges participating in the spring.
 
COLLEGE FOOTBALL
Match 6 (Hoerauf): Buena Vista 2, Bushnell 0
Match 6 (Monrroy): HACC 2, Bushnell 0
 
Caden Hoerauf and Mason Monrroy will represent the Beacons in their inaugural College Football season. They will be assigned opponents of similar records each week, playing a best-of-three series. There are 54 colleges participating in the spring.
 
Hoerauf's week six opponent was unable to finish the match due to weather. He will need a win in the final week of the regular season to qualify for the last chance qualifier. Monrroy was eliminated from postseason contention after a loss to Harrisburg Area CC.
 
MADDEN
Match 6: Russell Sage College 2, Bushnell 0
 
Caden Hoerauf represents Bushnell in Madden. He will be assigned an opponent of a similar record each week, playing a best-of-three series every Thursday night. There are 80 colleges participating in the spring.
 
Hoerauf fell in his week six match, meaning he will need a win this week in order to earn a spot in the last chance qualifier.
 
FORTNITE
Week 6: Gold (518 points, 34th), Blue (156 points, 88th), White (80 points, 106th)
 
Fortnite plays three matches each week, earning points based on placement and eliminations. At the end of the regular season, the top 50 teams on the leaderboard will advance to the playoffs.
 
The duos competing for the Beacons are Nathan Farris/Nick McGowen (Gold), Grayson Bolanos/Lauren Cazares (Blue) and Emma Reposa/Dulce Ramirez-Ramos (White). Farris and McGowen currently hold a spot in the postseason.
