Three Records Fall as Indoor Season Begins

PORTLAND INDOOR RESULTS

PORTLAND, Ore.  – The Beacon throws crew set the tone for the 2025 Indoor Track & Field season on Saturday, going 3-for-3 on school records in the opening day of the Portland Indoor.
 
The University of Portland-hosted meet began at Portland State for the throws events on Saturday. Bushnell competed in three of the four events and collected new school records in all three.
 
In the women's shot put, Leah Schiewe took second place and earned a new school record with a throw of 10.96m (35' 11.5"). She broke the previous record of 10.87m, set by Dakota Underwood in 2022.
 
In the men's shot put, it was Maxwell Al-Rubaie breaking his own record set last season as he claimed a fifth-place heave of 11.10m (36'5"). Also competing was Jonathan Paz Perez who hit a new personal record at 10.47m (34' 4.25").
 
In the men's weight throw, Al-Rubaie claimed his second school record of the day at 13.35m (43' 9.75"). For this one, he broke the record of teammate Paz Perez which was set last season. Paz Perez also competed and set another personal record as well, throwing 10.25m (33' 7.5").
 
The Portland Indoor will continue on Sunday, moving across town to the Chiles Center on the University of Portland campus for the running events, beginning at 12:00 pm.
