Bushnell Esports: Weekly Recap

EUGENE, Ore.  –  Bushnell Esports opened their fall season with debuts in four new games, including solo titles of Teamfight Tactics, NBA 2K and Madden. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Valorant also competed in their week one matches.  
 
SUPER SMASH BROS. ULTIMATE (SSBU)
Week 1: Southern Arkansas 2, Bushnell 0 (12-5, 12-4)

The Beacons are competing in their first official SSBU season, debuting with a roster of eight. The format of SSBU is 4v4 Crew Battles on a Nintendo Switch. Teams are assigned opponents of similar records each week and play a best-of-three series. 

Bushnell opened the season against SAU, falling in two. Alyssa Unruh, Aaron Gold, Emma Reposa, Nate Byers and Brandon Mitchell all saw time in the first match. The Beacons' second-week opponent is Dallas Baptist University.  
 
 
TEAMFIGHT TACTICS (TFT)
Week 1: 10 points (T-18th) 

Zack Claunch was placed into the top division (Division A) of competition, representing Bushnell in its first appearance of TFT. Every Monday, Claunch will have two matches, competing in an eight-way free-for-all format.

Claunch placed third and fifth in his first two lobbies, putting him in a tie for 18th (10 points) in the 48-competitor field. There are six weeks to go in the regular season.
 
 
NBA 2K
Week 1: Old Dominion 2, Bushnell 0 (58-46, 60-54 (OT))

Issac Bodley is representing Bushnell in NBA 2K. He will be assigned an opponent of similar record each week, playing a best-of-three series every Tuesday night. There are 94 colleges participating in the fall.

Bodley fell in his first collegiate matchup to ODU. His second-week opponent has not been assigned.
 
 
VALORANT
Week 1: University of South Florida 2, Bushnell 0 (13-6, 13-11)

Bushnell Valorant is back after a year off, featuring three new members to the starting lineup. Cole Vamos, Brett Olmstead, Nathan Farris, Zack Claunch and Connor DeVeny will play on Tuesday of each week, competing in a best-of-three matchup. The Valorant season, consisting of 232 colleges, is broken into nine divisions based on rank. The Beacons were placed in Division A, the second-highest level of competition.  

Bushnell dropped the season opener to USF, falling short of a game two comeback. The Beacons take on UNC Charlotte next Tuesday night. All matches will be streamed live on Twitch.
 

MADDEN
Week 1: Brewton-Parker College 2, Bushnell 0

Caden Hoerauf is representing Bushnell in Madden. He will be assigned an opponent of similar record each week, playing a best-of-three series every Thursday night. There are 121 colleges participating in the fall.

Hoerauf fell to Brewton-Parker College in his first collegiate matchup. His second-week opponent has not been assigned.
