BANDON, Ore. – The Bushnell men's golf team took home the title at the fourth annual Bandon Crossings Match Play event, a three-day tournament hosted by the Beacons.
Â
Bushnell competed alongside Simpson University, Corban University and Skagit Valley College.
Director of Golf
Larry Watts said, "It was a great day on the Oregon Coast. We were fortunate to take 2.5 points today. Corban played extremely well. Many thanks to all the teams and coaches who participated. This event is our favorite of the year and I'm really proud that the team came together and stayed focused."
Â
DAY THREE:
Bushnell 2.5
Corban 1.5
Â
David Harvey / Benjamin Winans (2 up)
Jackson Findlay /
Ramsey Gordon
Â
Findlay: "We played solid, our best day of the tournament. Unfortunately didn't make enough birdies on the back and ended up losing on 18."
Â
Andy Austen / Owen Heath
Hayden Lazeo /
Elliot Wallace (Halved)
Â
Wallace: "Losing the first hole derailed the momentum we had gotten from winning the last two days, but we were able to hang in there and get a win on seven. We started the back strong, stumbled a little on 15 and 16 but were able to walk away from the match with a tie."
Shane Jacobus / Andrew Classen
Jackson Muramoto /
Josh Neal (5 & 4)
Â
Neal: "We came into the day very confident with how we have been playing together. Moto started it off strong with birdies on two and four to go 2 up. It was pretty even until nine with a few missed close putts, then I birdied nine and 10, and we closed it out on 13 and 14 with back-to-back birdies again from both me and Moto. I am proud of how the team performed this week and it's a great way to start the season."
Â
Max McDonough / Calvin McDonough
Talon Larson / Ben Lovrod (4 & 3)
Â
Lovrod: "It was nice to play in good weather. We were able to take a commanding lead into the back nine. It was good to get the job done and I'm happy for the team, who all played well."
