Bushnell Esports: Weekly Recap

EUGENE, Ore. – Bushnell Rocket League wrapped up play in the National Association of Collegiate Esports with a loss on Monday night.  

ROCKET LEAGUE

NACE: The Rocket League regular season consists of six rounds of conference play. All matches are best-of-five games. At the end of the Regular Season, the first-place roster in each conference will get an automatic bid into the Playoffs. The second and third place rosters from each conference will compete in a Last Chance Qualifier against second and third place rosters from other conferences.
 
Bushnell 3, Lethbridge College 0 (3-1, 3-4, 1-0, 1-2, 3-2)
Lubbock Christian 3, Bushnell 0 (5-2, 3-0, 3-2)
Wichita State 3, Bushnell 0 (3-1, 4-3, 3-1)
 
Bushnell finished 3-3 in the regular season for fourth place in the West-Central Division. Lubbock Christian, Wichita State and UT Dallas all finished with 5-1 records to earn themselves a spot in the postseason.   
 
ECAC: The Beacons are also competing in a league run by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC). They will play six best-of-seven matches in the 43-team Contenders Division. To be eligible for the postseason, they must earn at least eight points during the regular season and finish among the top-24. Each win is worth two points.

Bushnell 4, Central Missouri 3 (3-1, 2-3, 2-4, 7-2, 4-3, 2-4, 3-1)
Bushnell 4, Louisiana Tech 0 (1-0, 2-0, 6-0, 4-3)

Bushnell (5-0) remains undefeated after wins over Central Missouri and Louisiana Tech, guaranteeing themselves a spot in the postseason. Up next is a match against Bethany College (1-4) on March 13 at 5:00 p.m. to conclude the regular season.

FORTNITE

Christian Velazquez and Ethan Slayden will compete in three qualifiers. During each qualifier, there will be two separate lobbies playing four custom matches. The top four teams from each lobby based on earned points (placement, eliminations) will receive direct bids to the Collegiate Championship. Over the span of three qualifiers, 24 teams will earn direct bids, while another 24 teams will advance based on collective points throughout the qualifiers.

Qualifier #1: 4th/38
Collegiate Championship: 18th/44
 
Velazquez and Slayden posted 68 points (53 placement, 15 eliminations) in the first qualifier to finish fourth and earn themselves a direct bid to the Collegiate Championship. The duo scored most of their points in the first (28) and third (26) matches, taking second place in both.
 
In the collegiate championship, the pair recorded 39 points (24 placement, 15 eliminations) for 18th place. Most of their points were scored in the first two matches. Official results were never released.
