Bushnell Fortnite competed in four zero build trios tournaments during the regular season, taking place every other week. Points were earned based on placement and eliminations. At the end of each five-game tournament, the top team from each of the four lobbies advanced to the playoffs. The 17 remaining teams qualified based on points earned throughout the four tournaments.
Â
Nathan Farris,
Grayson Bolanos,
Lauren Cazares and
Nick McGowen represented Bushnell in its first-ever trios competition. The Beacons climbed up the leaderboard each week, finishing the fourth tournament in 27
th place to earn a spot in the postseason.
Â
Entering the championship tournament as the 27-seed, the Beacons exceeded expectations, taking ninth place with 210 points. The scoring for the championship was slightly different than the regular season with eliminations being doubled from two points to four points per elimination.
Â
They opened with a 15
th place result in the first match before back-to-back top 10 placements. The third match was their best as they took fifth place with eight eliminations, resulting in 76 of their points. The Beacons finished 20
th and 27
th in the final two matches but recorded 10 eliminations to keep themselves among the top 10 on the leaderboard.
Â
This tournament wrapped up the fall slate for Bushnell Esports. Fortnite will return next semester but potentially on a different night. If the Beacons decide to continue competing in Zero Build, they will compete on Tuesdays. If they choose to compete in Builds, the competition will be on Thursday nights. The official format (duos, trios, etc.) has not been announced.
