Bushnell Esports competes in the Round of 4 of the Varsity Plus Divisional Playoffs this week. The Beacons are coming off a win over Colorado College in Overwatch 2 and a victory over Viterbo University in Valorant. Bushnell fell to both Blinn College and Wisconsin – Stout in the regular season matchups.

Bushnell (19-15, 7-5 CCC) returns home for a conference series with Oregon Tech on Friday and Saturday.
 
LAST WEEK: Bushnell hit a rough patch last week, falling to Linfield in a mid-week game before being swept by the University of British Columbia, dropping the four-game series 4-2, 10-3, 11-0 and 14-4. The Thunderbirds pitching staff tallied a combined 46 strikeouts on the weekend. 
 
CCC RANKINGS: Bushnell took a hit in ERA over the weekend but drops just one spot in the conference standings to second with a 4.45 mark. The Beacons rank fifth in the conference in batting average (.272) and are third in home runs (29).
 
The Beacons have two starters ranked among the top 10 in the conference in ERA, led by Ethan Sachs, who is fifth with a 3.48 mark through nine starts with 43 strikeouts (7th). Adam Sabatino is seventh in the CCC with a 3.95 ERA. Colby Knutzen has three saves (2nd) and a 3.45 ERA through 10 appearances. 
 
Cayden Delozier is third in the conference in batting average (.378) and fifth in on-base percentage (.477). He held a 10-game hit streak this season, tying Jeff Fripp's record from last year. Ethan Stacy is second on the team in batting, holding a .346 average on the season.
 
Cade Crist is batting .322 on the year with seven home runs (5th).
 
WESTERN OREGON: The Wolves (16-12, 10-8 GNAC) are coming off three straight losses to Northwest Nazarene, dropping them to second in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. As a team, WOU leads the conference with a 4.31 ERA and is second in batting with a .275 average.
 
Derek Maiben leads the GNAC with a .417 batting average through 28 starts, tallying 45 hits on the season. Jacob Maiben holds a seventh-best .337 average through 26 games. Dylan Chalmers leads the conference with a 2.27 ERA, while Bryce Bond is second with a 3.66 mark.
 
Western Oregon is 3-0 in the all-time series with Bushnell, including a 4-1 win in Monmouth in mid-March.

OREGON TECH: The Owls (25-13, 12-4 CCC) swept Eastern Oregon to open conference play before winning three of four against the College of Idaho and Lewis-Clark State. OIT split with Corban in their last time out.
 
The Owls rank fourth in the conference in both batting average (.284) and ERA (4.75). They are second in stolen bases with 72 on the season. Korrey Siracusa (.362) and Tyler Horner (.352) rank among the top 10 in the CCC in batting.
 
Brendan Talonen ranks second in the conference in ERA with a 3.11 mark through 46.1 innings pitched. Patrick Arman is sixth with a 3.59 ERA and 43 strikeouts (7th) through 57.2 innings of work. Cody Dubray (6.86 ERA) is fourth in strikeouts with 49.
 
Oregon Tech is 9-3 in the all-time series with Bushnell, but the Beacons took two of three in the non-conference series in Springfield this season.


SOFTBALL

Coming off a 1-3 weekend against Northwest University, the Beacons remain on the road this weekend, taking on Warner Pacific University (8-27, 5-15).
 
LAST WEEK: A Day-One split saw Bushnell and the Eagles combine for 50 hits over two games as Northwest took the opener 11-10 with a walk-off before Bushnell claimed a 12-9 eight-inning victory in the second game. NU went on to claim the conference rubber match as well as the non-conference fourth game, both by a score of 4-3.    
 
CASCADE CONFERENCE: The Beacons are currently sitting in a tie with Corban for eighth-place in the CCC, give games behind Carroll for sixth-place. The top-six teams will qualify for the post-season.
 
Bushnell is currently ranked eighth in the CCC for batting average (.258) and ERA (6.83). The Beacons rank sixth for fielding percentage at .946. Individually, Madison Steelman ranks seventh in the CCC for home runs (5) and fourth for triples (4).
 
WARNER PACIFIC: The Knights (3-24, 3-18) tripled their season win total over the weekend as they split a four-game series in Montana against Providence, taking two-of-three conference games.
 
With just 13 girls on the roster, WPU is currently 11th in the CCC in hitting (.222), pitching (10.52), and fielding (.925). With
 
Offensively, Emma Foster leads the team, hitting .343 with 16 RBI, ten runs and eight extra-base hits including four homers. Jordyn Rosario (.313) leads the team with 26 hits and two stolen bases.  The pitching staff is led by Carrigan Foster (2-5) holding a 6.79 ERA while striking out 48 batters in 44.1 innings.
 
Bushnell holds a 6-2 lead in the all-time series with the Knights, who added softball in 2021. Last season Bushnell claimed all four games including a pair of 8-0 run-rule victories in the CCC series.  


TRACK & FIELD

Friday-Saturday 3/14-15 at Lewis & Clark Invitational
 
After a weekend off to celebrate the Eastern holiday, the Beacons will be back at it in Portland on Friday and Saturday at the Lewis & Clark Invitational.
 
The Beacons will be looking to add members to their Cascade Conference Qualifier roster, which currently includes 11 women and seven men.


GOLF

Saturday 4/15 vs. Corban University (Exhibition Match Play)
 
Bushnell will make up a previously rained out match play event with Corban University. Both sides faced Skagit Valley College and Simpson University at Bandon Crossings in early March but were unable to complete the event due to the rainout. The Beacons and Warriors will play the round at the Emerald Valley Golf Club on Saturday.
