Rocket League and Valorant Off to 1-0 Start

EUGENE, Ore. – The National Association of Collegiate Esports Starleague competition began this week for Bushnell University with matches in Overwatch, Rocket League and Valorant.

OVERWATCH
The Bushnell Overwatch Final Showdown will take place across two qualifying tournaments. The top four teams from each qualifying round will move on to the finals. Each qualifier will be a single-elimination tournament and all matches are a best-of-three games.

The Final Showdown will be the last competition for Overwatch 1 as Overwatch 2 is set to be released on Oct. 4. A weekly regular season will start shortly after the release.

Kennesaw State Academy 2, Bushnell 0
The Beacons were eliminated in the opening round of the first qualifier on Saturday morning but will get another chance on Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. They will learn their first round opponent on Friday.

ROCKET LEAGUE
The Rocket League regular season consists of six rounds of conference play. All matches are a best-of-five games. At the end of the Regular Season, six Rosters from each Division that have the best overall Records (W-L) will move on to the Playoffs.

Bushnell 3, Neumont College of Computer Science 0 (8-0, 7-1, 10-0)
The Beacons (1-0) opened their season with a dominant victory over Neumont (0-1) on Monday evening. Cole Vamos played in the first game, tallying four goals before Paul Armstrong subbed in for the next two. Lucas Fenton and Kyle Foss played all three games for the Beacons.

Up next, the Bushnell takes on the University of Alaska – Fairbanks on Monday, September 26.

Vamos: 4 goals
Fenton: 9 goals, 7 assists
Foss: 5 goals, 8 assists
Armstrong: 7 goals, 2 assists
 
VALORANT
The Valorant regular season consists of six rounds of conference play. All matches are a best-of-three games. At the end of the Regular Season, six Rosters from each Division that have the best overall Records (W-L) will move on to the Playoffs.

Bushnell 2, University of Alaska - Fairbanks 1 (13-5, 13-15, 13-10)
The opening match of the Valorant season came down to the wire for the Beacons, who rallied after an overtime loss in the second game. Some statistical highlights for Bushnell included 66 eliminations by Cole Vamos, 32 assists by Benny Flores Jr. and 37 first bloods as a team.

Up next, the Beacons take on Kilgore College on Wednesday, September 28.
