This Week in Bushnell Athletics

WOMEN'S SOCCER
Saturday 9/17 vs. Carroll College, 4:30 pm (Livestats | Video Stream)

Bushnell (0-5) fell to San Diego Christian College and Pacific University to wrap up the non-conference schedule. The Beacons played all but one match at home and continue that trend by hosting Carroll College (3-1-2) to open the Cascade Collegiate Conference slate.

Dejah Wallot leads the Beacons in scoring after recording a goal in each of the last two games. Blake Danna and Brooke Molina have a goal apiece on the year.

CARROLL PREVIEW: The Saints enter the weekend with a 3-1-2 record, outscoring opponents 16-6 and averaging 2.67 goals per game. Carroll is led by senior Blair Stapleton, who has a conference-leading six goals on the year, scoring a pair in each of the Saints' wins. Last season, Carroll went 6-9-1 overall and 5-6-1 in CCC action to finish eighth.

MEN'S SOCCER
Friday 9/16 vs. Walla Walla University, 2:00 pm (Livestats | Video Stream)
Saturday 9/17 vs. Carroll College, 7:00 pm (Livestats | Video Stream)

Bushnell (2-2-1) came out of the pre-season with a .500 record for the first time since 2016 and the Beacons look to carry that momentum into the Cascade Collegiate Conference slate this weekend. Bushnell opens CCC action on Friday against Walla Walla (0-2) and Saturday against Carroll (1-1-1).

STAT WATCH: Sophomore Caleb Burke has had quite a start to the season, scoring six goals through the Beacons first five games. He is already just one goal shy of tying the Bushnell single-season record with the entire Cascade Conference slate ahead. He also ranks second in the CCC in scoring.

WALLA WALLA PREVIEW: The Wolves have played just two matches so far, falling to Whitworth University, 7-1 on the road and 4-1 at home. Last year, WWU went 1-13-1 overall and 1-12 in the Cascade Conference. They returned just nine players from that team and brought in 16 new players.

CARROLL PREVIEW: The Saints have an even record at 1-1-1, with their victory coming in a non-conference clash with Providence, 2-1. Senior Forward Rory Bloy has scored three of the team's five goals so far including two in their last match, a 2-2 tie with Whitworth. Last season, Carroll was 5-8-2, including a 5-6-2 record in the conference to finish tenth.

VOLLEYBALL
Friday 9/16 at Southern Oregon University, 7:00 pm (Livestats | Video Stream)
Saturday 9/17 at Oregon Tech, 5:00 pm (Livestats | Video Stream)

Bushnell (8-5, 3-2 CCC) had one of their most lopsided weekends in recent memory after a pair of convincing home sweeps over Warner Pacific (25-8, 25-9, 25-8) and Multnomah (25-18, 25-13, 25-15). Coach Jason Corwin, who became Bushnell's all-time coaching wins leader on Saturday, needed to call just one time out during the weekend.

Hitting the road for the first time in conference play, the Beacons will have a good early-season test ahead as they travel to face No. 17 Southern Oregon (10-2, 4-1) and Oregon Tech (6-5, 3-2).

MILESTONE WATCH: Senior Payton Jones had a big weekend, including a 12-kill performance against Multnomah. Early in the third set of that match, Jones became the 10th place in school history to collect 500 career kills. Right around the corner, senior Halle Neumann will look to become the 11th player with 500 kills. She currently has 493 kills.

SOUTHERN OREGON PREVIEW: The Raiders have had a big start to the season, opening up with a 10-2 record. After being unranked to start the year, they rattled off nine straight wins and moved up to sit at No. 17 in the latest NAIA Coaches Poll. Last night, however, they lost in four sets to unranked Oregon Tech on Wednesday night.

The Raiders have a lot of players to watch out for, including junior Sadie Byrd who leads the CCC and is fifth in the NAIA with a .391 hitting percentage. Sophomore Hailey Van Well is fifth in the conference in kills, averaging 3.28 per set.

OREGON TECH PREVIEW: The Owls have gone the other way, having started the season in the NAIA Top-25 before going 3-3 in the preseason. They come into the weekend off a split, defeating Northwest and falling to Evergreen last weekend and their big upset win over SOU on Wednesday.

Sophomore Molly Grace leads the offense, hitting .376 which is good for second in the CCC. Senior Nicole Reyes averages 3.39 kills per set while Aubrey Kievit is sixth in the conference with 3.92 digs per set.
