EUGENE, Ore. – Bushnell Esports wrapped up the third week of the National Association of Collegiate Esports Starleague competition, picking up wins in Overwatch and League of Legends.
The Overwatch team got in the win column with a victory over the University of Providence on Monday night. The Beacons closed the week with a win in League of Legends against the University of Wyoming, the second straight win for the League team.
ROCKET LEAGUE
The Rocket League regular season consists of nine rounds of conference play. All matches are a best-of-five games. There are 17 conferences separated by region, each consisting of 9 or 10 teams. The Beacons compete in the West 2 Conference. The top-three teams from each conference qualify for the postseason which begins with a Conference Play-In (2
nd vs 3
rd) followed by the Conference Championship (1
st vs Play-In Winner).
Washington State 3, Bushnell 1 (4-0, 1-2, 1-0, 4-3)
An exciting, evenly matched contest between Bushnell and Washington State got the week started. The Cougars took the series in a match that saw two of four games get sent to overtime. Preston "PrestoMagic" Clark, Benny "Bemohz" Flores Jr. and
Lucas Fenton made up the starting lineup.
WSU shut out Bushnell in the opening game, but the Beacons tied up the series with an overtime win in the second game. Clark scored both goals in game two, sending in the game-winner 32 seconds into overtime. An early goal in game four gave the Cougars a 2-1 series lead.
The Beacons struck first in game four on another goal from Clark and some help from a Fenton demo in front of the goal. The Cougars scored the next two before back-to-back goals from Fenton gave the Beacons a 3-2 lead with 51 seconds ago. The Cougars tied it up with one second on the clock to force overtime before sending in the match-winner nearly two and a half minutes into the extra time.
Up next, Bushnell takes on New Mexico State University (0-2) on Monday, Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. The date and time are subject to change.

Bushnell 3, University of Providence (2-0, 1-0, 3-2)
Bushnell (1-2) defeated the University of Providence in Monday's third-round match. UP recently rejoined NACE in December of 2021. It was the first win of the spring season for the Beacons in Overwatch.
The starting lineup consisted of Aaron "MLG" May, Chase "Pt Loser" Dean, Tyler "ShockMaster" Chase, Benny "Bemohz" Flores Jr., Brett "Unfazed" Olmstead and
Darryl Tillo.
The Beacons controlled the entirety of map one, quickly securing both points on Lijiang Tower. King's Row was a similar story as the Beacons did not allow the Argos to gain any capture progress. Bushnell took just over 30 seconds to get a tick on their offensive turn to secure map two. The Beacons held the Argos to 1.51m on Junkertown before using a few seconds on their offensive turn to take map three and the series. Â
Up next, the Beacons take on Neumont College of Computer Science (1-2) on Monday, Feb. 14 at 8 p.m.
LEAGUE OF LEGENDS
League operates in a Swiss-style format, meaning opponents will be determined after each round of play with teams competing against another team with the same number of regular-season wins. Each match is a best-of-three games. At the end of the regular season, the top-eight teams from each conference will move on to the conference playoffs. The Beacons compete in the West Conference, which consists of 56 teams.
Bushnell 2, University of Wyoming 0
Bushnell improved to 2-1 after defeating the University of Wyoming on Tuesday night. The match could not be live streamed as many teams were experiencing issues with spectator mode throughout the day on Tuesday.
The Beacons changed up their lineup for this week as Priscilla "Tinewen" Kennedy entered the starting five and played support. Justin "Malstixy" Ault, Colton "sac de lait" Osten-Milbert, Drew "Zubdew" Lindley, and Tyler "ShockMaster" Chase made up the remaining four spots.
The Beacons will look to keep it going against the University of Silicon Valley (2-1) on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m.
FORTNITE
The schedule for the Fortnite spring season was announced on Tuesday. The circuit will consist of three Regional Opens for each region (East/West) followed by the Collegiate Championship for qualifying teams. The top four teams from each Regional Open, based on earned points, will receive direct bids to the Collegiate Championship on March 19. There will be an additional 24 bids assigned based on a team's collective points earned throughout all Regional Opens. In total, 48 teams will qualify for the Collegiate Championship, with 24 teams coming from the East Region and 24 teams coming from the West Region.
The West Regional Open #1 is scheduled for February 27
th.
