COMPLETE RACE RESULTS

COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – Claiming their first event victory in three years, the Bushnell women's cross country team won a narrow victory over Multnomah University on Friday at the Bushnell Invitational, taking place at Middlefield Golf Course.
 
The Beacons won by two points, outscoring the Lions, 36-38, thanks to a strong pack in the 2-5 spots. Multnomah claimed the individual victory as Shiloh Najjar (18:14.9) defeated Bushnell junior Rebecca Kuskie (19:14.9) by exactly one minute. MU also had the third and fourth-place finishers.
 
Hannah Scott (pictured, left) was the leader of the scoring pack for the Beacons, taking eighth place (21:21.7) followed closely by Aneykah McCall (pictured, second from left) in ninth at 21:25.7. McCall said, "It was more difficult than I would have liked it to be, but it is still the beginning of the season, and the first normal season we have had in two years. We had a good pack and that is a big threat to the other teams and I'm hopeful that there are even better results to come."
 
Isabell Webber (11th, 21:52.6) and Kaitlin Cook (12th, 21:59.0) rounded out the scoring with Kennedy Larson close behind in 13th (22:03.8). Also running for the Beacons were Skye Urban in 15th (22:58.0) and Liz Jarvis in 23rd (26:35.0).
 
Head Coach Tom Boldon said, "Our women won largely because of that pack mentality that we took into the race. Kennedy was our sixth runner and got in before Multnomah's fourth, while Skye was our seventh and managed to displace Multnomah's fifth runner. Everybody contributed to the win."
 
The Beacons will be off until October 8 when they head to Klamath Falls for the CCC Preview Meet, hosted by Oregon Tech.
