RESULTS

McMINNVILLE, Ore.  – The Bushnell women's cross country team opened the season at Joe Dancer Park on Friday morning, taking tenth-place at the Linfield Harrier Classic in a 4000m race.
 
The Beacons scored 273 points to edge out the host Wildcats, while sitting third among teams from the Cascade Collegiate Conference. The NAIA's No. 4-ranked College of Idaho took second place behind Oregon State while Corban University took sixth. Evergreen State followed in 12th-place with 291 points.
 
Head Coach Kyle Will said, "Overall I was pleased for how we did in our first race of the season. Eden ran faster than she thought she would, Cadence and Alyssa were right there, and it's awesome to see how close our next five were. We just need to close the gap between Eden and Cadence and Alyssa, and then the gap between Alyssa and that next group and we'll be good. We are off to a good start and we have a great group to work with and they are all bought in and encouraged by their results."

Leading the way for the Beacons was freshman Eden Rosensteel (pictured), making her Bushnell debut in 43rd-place as she cleared the finishing at 15:17.1.
 
"The first race of the season is always nerve-wracking," said Rosensteel, "because you can't fake your fitness in a race and it really shows you where you are at. Going into today I was nervous, but my mindset was to give 100% and race my hardest. It was not an easy race, but I am super proud of how my team came together and gave our everything for a great start to the season."
 
Junior Cadence Smith followed in 91st (16:28.9) with sophomore Alyssa Clark close behind in 97th (16:35.7). Rounding out the scoring were senior Sidney Lane (115th, 17:14.4) and freshman Zoey Zabel (118th, 17:24.3).
 
Also competing for the Beacons were Jordan Lauinger (123rd, 17:39.7), Abby Phelps (17:49.3), Brooklyn Beecher (128th, 17:51.9), Liz Hirschbach (136th, 18:45.4) and Karlee Myers (138th, 18:59.5).
