BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Bushnell women's golf team opened the season with a sixth-place finish at the British Columbia Invitational, hosted by UBC at the Sudden Valley Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday.

Larry Watts said, "I'm proud of how the young freshman battled over the past two days. Overall, we learned something about ourselves and are looking forward to getting back to practice."
Freshman 
Analise Aubin posted a top-ten finish in her collegiate debut, posting a two-round score of 79-82—161 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference's season-opening tournament.
"I had a great time at my first collegiate tournament. It was so fun meeting all the girls in our conference and I am so excited to see how I improve this season," said Aubin.
 
Emily Li (73-79—152) of UBC finished one-stroke ahead of teammate Sonja Tang (79-74—153) to claim the women's individual title. The Thunderbirds won the team title with a final score of 617, 30 strokes ahead of runner-up Oregon Tech (647).
 
Lewis-Clark State took third (660), followed by Corban (683) in fourth and the College of Idaho (727) in fifth. Bushnell placed sixth (735) after improving its score by 11 strokes in the second round. Walla Walla finished in seventh (749).
 
Cassidy Krauss (174) posted an 87 in both rounds for the Beacons to take 18
th. 
Fernanda Gardea (95-91—186) finished in a tie for 26
th, while 
Melody Garcia (112-102—214) took 34
th.
 
The Beacons travel to Tacoma, Wash. next weekend to compete at the Pacific Lutheran Invitational.
