EUGENE, Ore. –
Christian Velazquez and
David Sollid placed ninth in the Fortnite Fall Cup II on Wednesday, one of the National Association of Collegiate Esports Starleague tournament circuits.
Velazquez and Sollid finished with 67 points for the Beacons and were the top finishers out of the West Region. Their final score was boosted by a third-round Victory Royale in which they earned 29 points.
The format of the Fall Cup was a Duos tournament in which 25 teams competed. The pairs played a total of six matches in custom lobbies. Teams earned points based on their performance in each of the six matches. Points were distributed based on placement in each round with an additional point being awarded for each elimination.
Since less than 48 total teams registered for the Regional Qualifiers, there was no qualifying tournament for either region, meaning all teams advanced to the Playoffs on Wednesday.
Ashland University won the tournament with 145 points. The University of Maryland placed second (119) and Keiser University finished third (118).
