EUGENE, Ore. – The National Association of Collegiate Esports Starleague competition concluded this week for the Beacons with the final matches in Overwatch and Rocket League.
Bushnell wrapped up the Overwatch season with a sweep over Irvine Valley College on Monday. The Beacons fell in Rocket League to undefeated San Diego State University on Monday night.
OVERWATCH
The Overwatch regular season consisted of nine rounds of conference play. All matches were a best-of-five games. The top-three teams from each conference qualified for the postseason which begins with a Conference Play-In (2nd vs 3rd) followed by the Conference Championship (1st vs Play-In Winner).
Bushnell 3, Irvine Valley College 0 (2-0, 4-3, 3-1)
Bushnell (4-5) concluded the Overwatch season on a high note, defeating Irvine Valley College (5-4) in the season finale. The Beacons did not qualify for the postseason but are in good shape for the spring, after a successful season with a young roster.
The Beacons opened the match with a 2-0 win on Oasis, a map they had not seen yet this season. Both sides secured three points in the opening rounds of King's Row, but the Beacons had the time advantage in the next round to quickly secure the victory on map two. Bushnell held IVC to just one checkpoint on the third map, while securing three of their own, to cruise to a 3-0 series win. Â
"I can't wait to see what they bring to the spring season," said Shoutcaster Kenyon "Keny116" Webster-Lorentzen. "They have more time now to work on their communication and it's only up from here." Chase "Pt Loser" Dean added, "Chemistry on this team is only going to go up. This is one the most kind to each other teams. It's really cool to see how much they enjoy hanging out with each other." Webster-Lorentzen and Dean commented every match on Twitch this season for the Beacons.
ROCKET LEAGUE
The Rocket League regular season consisted of nine rounds of conference play. All matches were a best-of-five games. The top-three teams from each conference qualified for the postseason which begins with a Conference Play-In (2

San Diego State 3, Bushnell 0 (7-0, 6-2, 1-0)
The Beacons (1-8) played the top team in the conference on Monday night, undefeated San Diego State University (9-0). The Aztecs cruised to a 3-0 victory over the Beacons to secure their place as the No. 1 seed heading into the postseason.
Bushnell finished the fall season in a tie for ninth place in the conference standings. The win for the Beacons came in the fifth round against Neumont College of Computer Science (Oct. 5). The Beacons played this season with multiple lineup combinations and will have some time to regroup before the spring.
