Beacons Rally to Take Third

MERIDIAN, Idaho– Sitting in sixth-place after the first two rounds, the Northwest Christian University men's golf team rallied with the best round on Tuesday to jump into third place at the College of Idaho Invitational taking place at The Club at Spurwing.

Rounds of 311 and 315 on Monday left the Beacons tied with Northwest Nazarene in sixth place. A difficult third-round saw the Beacons improve to a 309, besting Warner Pacific and The College of Idaho by 17 and 18 strokes respectively to leapfrog both schools into third.

Oregon Tech won the event, claiming a five-shot win over Corban University.

Josh Goins took fourth place to lead the Beacons (78-77-74—229) followed in 11th by Levi Dean (76-77-79—232). Jack Singleton (pictured) was 20th (79-81-78—238) with Austin Dame coming in tied for 25th (78-80-84—242).

Tristan Ivie (30th, 244) and Paul Smoot (33rd, 247) rounded out the scoring for NCU.

The Beacons return to the course on Saturday as they play host to the Alumni Ryder Cup at Springfield Golf Club. NCU will turn around and host the 2017 CCC Championships on April 19-20, also at Springfield.
