EAGLE POINT, Ore. – Freshman
Josh Goins pulled off the improbable on Tuesday, holding on to a day-one lead to win the Cascade Collegiate Conference Individual Championship. Going shot a 77 in Tuesday's third and final round to claim a four-shot victory.

As the CCC medalist, Goins also qualifies as an individual for the NAIA National Championship, taking place May 24-27 at TPC Deer Run in Moline, Ill. Goins becomes the second NCU golfer to qualify, joining current Interim Head Coach
Tyler Falk, who participated in 2014 after winning the CCC medal that year.

Goins finished the event with a three-round score of 226, finishing four strokes ahead of Corban's Aaron Seabrook and Oregon Tech's Josh Whitley who tied for second. Goins owned one of just three par-or-better rounds in the entire tournament when he shot a 72 in the first round on Monday.

As a team, Oregon Tech claimed the CCC Championship, scoring a 920. NCU finished second at 937, a full 35 shots ahead of third-place Corban.

Levi Dean finished in fifth place for the Beacons, shooting a 75 on Tuesday to finish at 233.
Austin Dame was tenth (239) and
Cody Gardner finished 11th (241).
Paul Smoot rounded out the NCU contingent in 18th (248).Â
After the event, Goins was also announced as an All-Cascade Collegiate Conference selection.Â
