McMINNVILLE, Ore.  – Four school records were set or reset this weekend and nine men's track & field athletes qualified for the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships at the Linfield Icebreaker.
 
Senior Chris Zirkle (pictured) got the party started on Friday night, running an NCU best 31:34.37 in the 10,000m. Zirkle was the second collegiate finisher and took fifth-place overall in the 48-runner field.
 
T.J. Wright blew the Steeplechase record out of the water, shaving 17 seconds off of the previous best mark, which had stood for six years. It was the second-oldest record in the NCU history book.
 
NCU also participated for the first time in a pair of events. Freshman Michael Andrews established a Pole Vault standard at 3.63 meters while the 4x100m was run for the first time as well. The team of Andrews, Harley Gilpin, Josh Chestnut, and Tanner Keuter ran the event in 47.57 to take fourth place.
 
Joining the above named record holders with CCC qualifying marks and times were sophomore Garrett Kraal in the 5000m, Micah Jury in the 400m Hurdles and the Javelin trio of Christian Hackney, Garth Gant, and Patrick Fritter.
