MEDFORD, Ore. – Sophomore
Sam Mar recovered from a tough first round to close out the Oregon Tech Border War on Monday with a seven-under par 65. It was the second-lowest score in NCU history.

Mar had shot an 81 in Sunday's first round and was stuck in 24th place after the opening 18 holes. Monday's turnaround produced the best single-round score of the tournament and helped the sophomore jump into a seventh-place finish.

The 65 comes almost a year-to-the day after
Tyler Falk set an NCU record with his 64 at the Cavalier Classic on September 30, 2013. It also tops Mar's previous best of 69, set on that same day last season.
Also golfing for the Beacons were
Cody Gardner, who took 22nd place (81-77=158) and
Austin Dame who was 39th (87-89=176).
The Beacons will be back in action next week, closing out the fall season at the Cavalier Classic on October 6-7.Â
