MONROE, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University men's golf team opened up the 2014-2015 campaign on Saturday and did so in dominant fashion, winning a dual event with first-year program New Hope Christian College, 332-378.
 
Sophomore Sam Mar (pictured) won medalist honors with a 70, seven strokes clear of teammate Cody Gardner in second place. Mar had a rough start on Saturday, bogeying his first two holes before rallying with five birdies and an Eagle to finish two-under par.
 
Jack Hackman tied for third place for NCU at 90 while Austin Dame claimed fifth-place with a 95.
 
Caleb Schwin was the top finisher for NHCC, tying with Hackman for third with a 90.
 
NCU will return to action next Monday, traveling to begin CCC action at the Oregon Tech Invitational.
