Box Score EUGENE, Ore. – NCU seniors
Alyssa Dorr and
Chelsea McGowan (pictured) ended their careers on strong footing Saturday, lead NCU in a four-set loss to The College of Idaho, 18-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-20. The Beacons took a set from the perennial CCC power for just the fourth time in school history.
Â

Kelly Rosin said, "Our seniors have been strong all season long for us. Chelsea did a great job of not only putting the ball down but drawing the block away from our outside hitters. Alyssa made great choices with her sets tonight.
Â
For the second straight night the Beacons made their opponent sweat and this time NCU stunned the College of Idaho with the first set victory, holding the Yotes to a .077 hitting clip. The remaining three sets all went to C of I, but Northwest Christian University was never blown out in a solid season closing match.
Â
The Yotes (16-11, 13-5 CCC) earned fourth place in the CCC and will host fifth-seeded Northwest University in the first round of the conference tournament next weekend. The Yotes were led by Emily Ottinger, coming off the bench to produce 14 kills. Kylie Porter added 13 kills and Bailie Kendall finished with 11. Kilee Lopez led all players with 21 digs, Sierra Porter posted 49 assists and Janessa Koelliker collected four blocks.
Â
NCU (9-13, 6-12) finishes the season in seventh place, one game behind Oregon Tech for the sixth and final playoff spot.
Chandler Gabrio finished her junior season with another 13 kills, adding nine digs, two blocks and two service aces.
Cassidy Winters posted ten kills and
Sydney Rothenbush led the team with 17 digs.Â
"C of I is a strong team," said Rosin, "and they have been strong all season. We did a great job of battling for every point. NCU volleyball worked hard all week and all season preparing for every match. The coaching staff is proud of the way we finished. We beat the odds this season."
