EUGENE, Ore. –  Senior Chloe Farr posted a career-high 32 digs, helping the No. 19-ranked Bushnell University volleyball team get past a pesky Simpson University in four sets on Friday night, 22-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-23.
 
After stumbling a bit in the first set, the Beacons (4-1) had to fight through strong comeback attempts from the Red Hawks in the next three sets before pulling away with a little dose of that signature Bushnell resiliency.
 
The victory gave Bushnell their second of the day after knocking off Pacific Union College in the afternoon session. "I am proud of how resilient we were today and our emotional consistency," said ninth-year head coach Jason Corwin. "We didn't panic when it got tough and we will continue to work toward leveling out our play to be more consistent going forward."
 
Averaging eight digs per set in the match, Farr's 32 digs equal the ninth-best total in Bushnell history, and the most by a Beacon in three years. Adding in her 27 from the morning match gives her a 59-dig day across eight sets.
 
Coach Corwin said, "Just a stand-out effort from Chloe today. She had a ton of digs and good passing."
 
Farr added, "We had a rough start to the day but we were able to change things up. I am so proud of how we fought and how we adjusted back to our standard. We seriously love playing with each other and it shows. We can't wait to get back after it tomorrow."
 
The Beacons finished the game hitting .185 as a team, led by a stand-out performance from senior Amyah Semau who earned a double-double with 14 kills and 12 digs, hitting .371. Soliel Sands hit .429 with eight kills and had a hand in five of Bushnell's ten blocks in the match.
 
"We performed really well together," said Sands. "We are starting to look cohesive and confident and I have so much fun playing with my best friends and celebrating them with every point."
 
Semau added, "We were very resilient and fought super hard today. Despite dropping a few sets, we bounced back and closed out well. I am proud of how we finished."
 
The Beacons had strong performances up and down the lineup on Friday, including 12 kills from Peyton Arland, seven kills and three blocks for Addie Evans, and five kills with a team-high six blocks from Jerzie Bair. Carly Hanna added five blocks, seven kills and a match-high with four service aces, three of which came in the final set.
 
Simpson (2-11) were led by a match-high 19 kills from Tiara Manns while Kimora McKechnie posted nine blocks including a pair of solo efforts.
 
UP NEXT: Bushnell will wrap up the 2026 Corban/Bushnell Tournament on Saturday with a pair of matches against teams currently receiving votes in the NAIA National Coaches poll. The Beacons take on Columbia International University at 12:00 pm and then will later face off against Taylor University at 5:00 pm. Taylor upset No. 5 ranked Corban on Friday in three sets.
