Box Score EUGENE, Ore. – After a tough loss to Corban on Friday night, the Beacons got what they needed on Saturday, sweeping Walla Walla, 25-15, 25-20, 25-21.
Alyssa Dorr (pictured) led the well balanced Beacon attack to the tune of 41 assists, the second highest total ever for NCU in a three-set match.

The Beacons (5-8) were in cruise control from the opening tip, finishing the night with a .379 attacking percentage. Five different players had at least 15 attempts and the Beacons out-dug the Wolves 42-33 on the night.

The NCU Middle Blockers owned the night as
Chelsea McGowan and
Chandler Gabrio combined for 24 kills and just one error. McGowan was 13-for-21 without a mistake while Gabrio collected 11 kills along with an ace.
Cassidy Winters added nine kills and
Kayla Ping chipped in seven kills and eight digs.
Chloe Davis led the team with 11 digs.

Walla Walla (4-15) was led by Maria Darling who collected a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs. The Beacons had no answer for the sophomore Outside Hitter, who never committed an error in the contest. Alissa Casey led the team with 13 assists while Lauren Barlow picked up ten kills.

The Beacons have now won nine straight in the series with WWU after this final non-conference meeting. Walla Walla will join the Cascade Collegiate Conference next season.

As the first half of the Cascade Collegiate Conference comes to an end, the Beacons find themselves mired in a five-way tie for sixth place in the CCC at 2-7. With six teams making the post-season it is shaping up to be a wild second half between NCU, Northwest, Warner Pacific, Corban, and Evergreen.

NCU returns to the court with road games next weekend in Portland, beginning the second half of conference play on  Friday night against Warner Pacific at 7:00 pm.Â
