KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – A closely played game ended with a 2-1 overtime victory for Oregon Tech on Friday as the Northwest Christian University women's soccer team dropped their second straight CCC contest.
Oregon Tech held a slight 14-13, shot advantage and each team took seven shots-on-goal in the game. NCU held a 6-4 edge in corner kicks in an extremely even fight.
The Beacons got on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead when
Katelyn Partridge (pictured) rebounded the ball off her own deflected shot and fired home the second-chance effort into the upper right corner of the net. NCU held the lead until late in the game when the Owls finally broke through with an equalizer. In the 78th minute, Meghan Drost sent a cross into the middle of the box where Lisel Frazier waited before firing an eight-yard chip.
The game remained tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation, but the Owls needed just two minutes of overtime to end the game. This time it was Drost who would score, chipping the ball in from five-yards out off a pass from Jacque Wood.
NCU (5-6-2, 3-2 CCC) returns to action on Sunday when they travel to Ashland to take on Southern Oregon University. The Raiders are currently receiving votes in the NAIA national coaches poll.
