SALEM, Ore. – The Bushnell women's soccer team was handed their first loss of the season on Sunday evening, falling to Willamette University in a non-conference clash, 3-1.
Â
After a scoreless first half, Bushnell was able to get on the board first when
Anela Leslie (pictured) posted an unassisted goal just three minutes into the second period.
Â
The Bearcats responded quickly however, as less than a minute later WU's Haleigh Seeling and Samantha Rodriguez connected for the first of three times.
Â
The equalizer was scored by Seeling off a dish from Rodriguez in the 49th minute. The game winner came off the foot of Rodriguez from a Seeling pass in the 55th, and the same combo went on to add the insurance goal in the 68th.
Â
Willamette held a slim 10-7 lead in shot attempts, and took eight shots-on-goal as
Gabriella Montes made five saves.
Â
The Beacons took all seven of their shot attempts in the second half.
Â
UP NEXT: Bushnell returns to Eugene this week, playing the first of five consecutive games at home on Tuesday night, taking on Linfield University at 7:00 pm.
