EUGENE, Ore. - The Bushnell women's soccer team put a bow on their non-conference schedule Sunday morning, playing to a 0-0 draw with Pacific Union College for their second consecutive shutout.
Bushnell (1-1-2) out-shot the Pioneers 17-5 in the contest and had seven shots on goal, but were never able to find the back of the net. Redshirt freshman keeper
Gabriella Montes (pictured) earned the clean sheet for the Beacons, earning three saves, all in the second half to keep PUC off the scoreboard.
"Overall we battled hard today," said Head Coach
Toni Malone, "and improved as the game went on especially winning balls out of the air. One of the biggest positives is the number of chances we continue to create and how consistently we are getting into dangerous areas. Now, we have to turn those chances into goals and be more clinical when those opportunities come. I am excited heading into conference play and think we have a strong season ahead of us."
Up Next: Bushnell will have a two-week hiatus to prepare for their Cascade Collegiate Conference opener on September 19. The Beacons will welcome the University of Providence to Civic Park for that first CCC clash at 4:30 pm.
