AZUSA, Calif. – The Hammer King and Queen both broke their school records on Friday, leading the Bushnell effort as the Beacons opened up the Brian Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific University.

For the women, senior
Leah Schiewe added nearly three feet to her school record in the event, which she set last season, posting a 39.60m (129-11) throw.

For the men, junior
Maxwell Al-Rubaie broke his own standard for the second time this season, posting a 49.20m (161-05).

Friday also featured a new CCC qualification on the men's side as Freshman
Waylon Cosby cleared six feet in the high jump (1.83m) to join three of his teammates on the list for the conference championship. He nearly punched a second CCC ticket in the 100m as he scored a season-best 11.13 and missed the conference qualifying number by just one-one hundredth of a second.

This weekend is a split competition for the Beacons who were also performing at the Larry Byerly Invitational at Lewis & Clark College and at the Oregon Team Invitational.

Madison Goodell highlighted the festivities at Lewis & Clark, taking ninth-place in the javelin with a personal record 29.18m (95-09).

Brett Olmstead competed at the Oregon Team Invitational, taking fourth-place in the Pole Vault with a 4.45m. It was the second-highest clearance of his career and it ranked fifth in school history.
