REDDING, Calif. – The Bushnell golf teams were back in action on Monday for the first day of the Simpson University Invitational at Riverview Golf Club.
The women played one round on Monday and opened up with a tie for second-place, shooting a 338. The ladies are even with host Simpson, holding a seven-shot lead over Southern Oregon University while trailing Oregon Tech by 24 strokes.
Kylee Smith shot a 79 for the Beacons to lead the way, sitting in a five-way tie for third place and just two shots out of first-place with one round to play.
Morgan Schlesinger followed in tenth-place (85),
Kylee Smith was 12th (86),
Jada Richwine (pictured) shot an 88 for 17th and
Jaylee Hix was in 18th (89).
On the men's side, two rounds were played with Bushnell sitting in fifth after shooting a 300-290—590. The Beacons are 14-shots over par and just two shots behind Oregon Tech in fourth.
Matt Forsyth leads the Beacons in 12th, shooting +1 on the day (73-72—145).
Jacob Holmes follows in 17th (74-74—148) with
Shawn Petty in 20th (77-73—150). Peyton Weidenmann (pictured) had the best round of the day, shooting a 71 in the second round, and sits in 24th (80-71—151).
Also golfing for the Beacons were
Connor Cameron in 24th (78-73—151) and
Isaac Wells in 30th (75-77—152).
